Cannes is with its 70.000 inhabitants the town where things happens all year around on the Côte d’Azur. The film festival, in the middle of May, has been held here since 1946 and is probably the most well-known yearly event. You will also find museums and exhibitions, entertainment such as gambling at the casinos and discos and night clubs. There are exclusive shops and giant motor yachts but also narrow streets with small charming restaurants in the old town of Cannes.

In 1834 the British Lord Chancellor Brougham was so charmed by the small fishing village and its mild Mediterranean climate that he built a residence here and it soon became a fashion among the upper class people to settle down in Cannes. Nowadays you will find all kinds of people here residents as well as tourists or visitors coming to the different exhibitions and trade fairs.

Cannes offers a variety of oppurtunities for all kinds of budgets. Strolling along at the famous palm-lined Boulevard de la Croisette is a real pleasure for mind and body. On the fine, well prepared sandy beaches you may enjoy good sea-food and relax among beautiful people from all over the world. The swimming season may last from May to December in the azure blue sea.

The center of Cannes between La Pantiero and Rue Félix Faure offers you a large number of restaurants. Here you will find the park Allés de la Liberté with the regular flower market in the morning and later on during the day groups of people playing boule. The touristoffice is situated in the film festival palace built on the ruins of the medevial fortress Fort de la Croix.

Cannes is perfectly situated for excursions to Nice and Monaco in the East as well as St. Tropez and Marseille in the West. If you want to go skiing in the mountain resorts, it is less that 60 kms away.
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is 30 kms / 20 minutes away and can be reached by bus.
